Exploring the Stansberry Lineage Through iGENEA DNA Test: A Journey Back in Time
Family name Stansberry
Recently, I undertook an iGENEA DNA test to explore my lineage and gained some fascinating insights about the Stansberry surname's origins. My genetic blueprint showed links to various regions across the globe, offering a unique glimpse into the migration and interspersing of the Stansberry lineage over centuries.
My recent undertaking with the iGENEA DNA test proved to be quite insightful and intriguing. This unique venture shed light on my lineage linked to the Stansberry surname, revealing details that traveled far back in time, shed light on geographic origins, and provided a clearer understanding of my genetic makeup.
The analysis determined that the origins of the Stansberry surname can be traced back to Northern Europe, specifically to regions that are part of present-day United Kingdom and Scandinavia. This was determined by the analysis of the Y-DNA, which is distributed paternally and stays relatively unchanged through generations. The presence of certain genetic markers associated with these areas confirmed the geographic origins of the surname.
Furthermore, the mitochondrial DNA test provided an overview of the maternal lineage of the Stansberry line. It revealed Ancient Greek origins on the maternal side, which was an unexpected and fascinating discovery.
The autosomal DNA results gave a comprehensive overview of my DNA mixture. They signified a dominant European genealogy, with approximately 70% belonging to Northern European regions and 30% to Southern European regions.
Intriguingly, a small percentage of East Asian DNA was also detected, likely representing ancient connections via migration and trade routes. While this might seem surprising, it indicates how interconnected the world has been over the centuries.
The DNA mapping also revealed that there is a high likelihood of distant relations with several contemporary Stansberrys living in the United States and Canada - strengthening the common belief that many Stansberrys migrated to North America during the 18th and 19th centuries.
All of these revelations have provided a deeper understanding of my roots and heritage. They've opened a gate to the past, connecting me with ancestors and their manifold journeys through time and space.
