An Exploration of My Ancestry: Decoding the Mühlebach Lineage with iGENEA DNA Testing
Family name Mühlebach
This is a report on my experience and results from doing a DNA test with iGENEA. It includes how the test has brought deeper understanding to my traceable lineage to the Mühlebach surname, revealing the complexity of my genetic matrix beyond my Swiss heritage. The meticulous scientific interpretation and reference databases utilised by iGENEA made it a trustworthy and enlightening experience, opening a window into my ancestry.
As an individual interested in genealogy and genetics, I decided to take a DNA test via iGENEA to explore my ancestry. The technical aspects of the test were straightforward and fairly comprehensive, providing a detailed view of my genetic history. The DNA testing kit consisted of two cotton swabs to collect cells from the inside of my cheek which were then placed in a protective tube for sending back to the lab.
Upon arrival, my samples were analyzed using the most modern molecular genetic analytic methods, such as SNP and STR. Beyond the testing methodology, what impresses me most about iGENEA is the carefully curated databases they have, which significantly boosts the test's accuracy.
Before the test, the only thing I had to go on was a family history that traced back to a Mühlebach origin. Post-test, I can now affirm the accuracy of this oral tradition. The test accurately traced my paternal lineage connecting me to the Mühlebach surname, which originates in Switzerland. The detailed results and analysis provided by iGENEA offered a startling insight into the migration patterns of my ancestors, and a deeper understanding of the history of the Mühlebach surname.
The DNA test, however, did more than connect me to the Mühlebach lineage – it also revealed the proportion of my genetic makeup linked with various ethnic groups. I discovered unexpected ties to ethnic groups far removed from the Swiss heritage I was familiar with, expanding my understanding of my genetic history.
The accuracy of iGENEA's tests enlightened me to the realities of migration and the true complexity of one's genetic matrix. By piecing together the puzzle of my origins, I now not only embrace the Mühlebach heritage but also a broader spectrum of ancestries that intricately weaves the story of me.
