My Journey into Ancestry: A deeper view on the Christopher Surname and Family Identity

Family name Christopher

Discovering one's roots can be a revelation of a lifetime. Thus, when I took an iGENEA DNA test to learn more about my pedigree, I didn't realize how much it would influence my view on my surname Christopher and my sense of family identity. This newfound understanding propagated a sense of belonging and forged stronger family ties.

My fascination with ancestry and stories of old made me take an iGENEA DNA test. I was eager to trace my roots and learn about my possible genetic ancestry beyond what I had always known. My surname, Christopher, was told to have originated from Europe, but I had always wondered if there were more to my lineage than just that.

The iGENEA analysis was user-friendly, and the suspense of awaiting the kit's return was thrilling in its own right. Little did I know how powerfully the results would influence my perception of identity and reconstruct my family's historical narrative.

Upon receipt of the results, I discovered a profound connection to the Celtic people. My DNA traced back to the Celts, renowned for their love of nature, eloquent speeches, and artistic prowess. Not surprisingly, these traits are especially noticeable in our family, but we never knew their origin. As such, the test unravelled a well of knowledge, fostering a newfound appreciation for our family's generational characteristics and passions.

Moreover, I was intrigued to find slight traces of Eastern-European Jewish ancestry. This discovery challenged my previous understanding of my lineage being exclusively European. It instilled a deeper sense of my roots by adding complexity and vastness to my lineage that I was unaware of.

Concerning my surname, Christopher, the results made me appreciate it more. It gave me more perspective and a high sense of unique identity. Knowing that my surname carried more depth than just a name, attributing genetics from both the Celts and Eastern European Jewish ancestry, was truly enlightening.

In retrospect, taking the iGENEA DNA test has been a significant journey, fostering a powerful sense of knowledge and belonging. More than just satiating my curiosity, it has instilled a profound understanding of my ancestry, strengthened my family ties, and enhanced my cultural identity. My surname, Christopher, now holds a deeper personal meaning, echoing the histories unspoken, battles won, and a legacy that continues to thrive.

P. Christopher
